WHO WE ARE

WHO WE ARE

Andy Brown.jpg

ANDREW K. BROWN

Creator, Curiosity Labs

Co-Founder, The Collaboratory

Andrew has been on the edges of innovative techniques over the past 10 years. He pioneered the shift to an open innovation culture at Tata Global Beverages in 2008, applied Google X rapid prototyping approaches to 50+ problem solving challenges from 2014- and has had numerous immersions into Stanford's d.school and MIT's Presencing Insititute to explore cutting edge approaches to creativity and innovation.

In 2012, shortly after moving to San Francisco, he built a company around his passion. Curiosity Labs has since served fast moving technology companies from Netflix to Square to Hound, helping them build meaningful, human-centered products. He increasingly works with mission-driven organizations and entrepreneurs - including the Impact Hub and scholars at Watson University in Boulder, where he now lives.

His curiosity has led him to studying organized crime in Russia, to a six month journey living in the jungle in Borneo to understand social and ecological systems. Over the past 10 years, he has conducted over 100 empathy journeys including immersions in the Mare favela in Rio to understand social entrepreneurship with Journeys for Change to understanding how people live in slums outside Delhi for Tata. He has facilitated over 100 visioning and prototyping workshops with politicians, entrepreneurs and corporate teams, including Visa, Soundhound, UC Boulder, Advanced Space and Galvanize.

In late 2016, he co-founded The Collaboratory, a be tank and incubator to reimagine business to serve all people and the planet.

"When Andrew brought together a cross-functional team of product, marketing, design and engineering for a collaborative workshop, it really propelled us in a new direction.

Andrew’s ability to generate creative thought, while focusing on our users and business goals, created an important sense of alignment across the team"

By the end of our one-day workshop with Andrew, focused on transforming the food system, our group was truly operating from a collective space, an experience unlike any other workshop I've attended. This was down to the expert facilitation and leading edge methodologies and tools used throughout. We were able to accomplish more in one day than many are able to accomplish in months. I use the techniques learned in the workshop on a regular basis in my current organization, and am seeing transformative progress, at a speed previously not seen as possible. "
